Student to Assistant Performing Arts Teacher at Jigsaw Ealing!

Amber Murray was a student at Jigsaw Performing Arts School from the ages of 4 to 15 before volunteering as a teaching assistant and now working as the performing arts teaching assistant at Jigsaw Ealing.

Jigsaw Ealing school Manager Dani caught up with Amber to learn more about her Jigsaw journey!

“Not only do I love working alongside a dedicated and welcoming team, but having the opportunity to see students’ skills and confidence develop is extremely rewarding. Getting to be a part of the shows and presentations have been great. I’ve loved showing our students’ parents the amazing work they’ve achieved throughout the term

I was a Jigsaw student for over 10 years where I was able to learn about the different aspects of the performing arts and combine these skills for my performance in our annual shows. As well as this, I’m an A-level drama student and I’ve worked backstage in a production of King Lear.

All of these combined have given me the opportunity to work with a wide wide range of people from performers, teachers, directors, stage managers, as well as sound and lighting techs.

In my free time I enjoy seeing live theatre and musical performances as well as going to concerts. My personal favourite shows have been Wicked, The Lion King and Ann Juliet. The best concert I’ve ever gone to is most definitely Niall Horan. I make sure to spend time with my friends and family as well and for the things I love from swimming to relaxing at home in front of the TV watching Gavin and Stacy.

If I could be in any West End show I’d love to star in Mamma Mia the Musical. I couldn’t pick a character, I just love the story as well as the music. I’m a big ABBA fan.

Creating a space for students at Jigsaw is incredibly important to me. As a former Jigsaw Arts Ealing student I will always remember how supportive and welcoming my teachers were to me. They created a safe environment for me as well as my other classmates. As an introverted person my teachers always ensured to create a space where I was never afraid to step out of my comfort zone due to their friendly support.” – Amber
