Ruby from Jigsaw Cardiff shares her exciting experience working with the Welsh National Opera!
Jigsaw Performing Arts School Cardiff Owner and Manager Philippa caught up with Ruby’s mum to hear all about the experience…
What was it like to see Ruby perform with the Welsh National Opera?
It has been so lovely to watch Ruby gain confidence, be inspired and to watch her appreciation for the arts grow. I can’t thank the team surrounding Welsh National Opera (WNO), Jigsaw Cardiff and her school enough for nurturing Ruby, unleashing her talent and passion for wanting more!
To be gifted the role of Angelica’s Child in Suor Angelica with the Welsh National Opera has been phenomenal for Ruby. She has been privy to something special; she has been so lucky at the age of seven to be surrounded by a live orchestra, powerful operatic voices, actors, and incredible production sets.
Ruby has absolutely adored working with the whole production team and she has totally embraced the whole experience from the audition process to rehearsals and right through to her debut matinée performance to a sell-out crowd at the Wales Millennium Centre, (WMC), last month.
It’s been an incredible experience for her and one that she will cherish and never forget. Ruby has enjoyed taking in all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. She has loved her dressing room, having her hair and makeup done and has really taken it in her stride to perform as a different character in costume – she has so many stories to tell!
Ruby is now looking forward to future performances with the WNO in the Autumn which are set to take place at a variety of locations in the UK.
Ruby is also super excited to be performing on stage again at WMC where she will be performing a Matilda production song with some of her fellow Cardiff Jigsaw buddies.
